Lodhran is a relatively young district, carved out of Multan District in 1982. It lies between Multan and Bahawalpur, and its economy is largely based on agriculture — mango orchards, cotton fields, and sugar production. The district's MEPCO sub-division manages electricity for Lodhran city, Kahror Pakka, and Dunyapur tehsils. Mango orchards and cold storage units represent a significant segment of commercial electricity demand in this district.
